We have been travelling for a week now and we’ve done a lot and also, not much. We are trying to embrace a slower pace after a frantic few months. We arrived in Athens at midnight on Monday, July 28th and headed straight to our apartment. The place was spacious and had an excellent location–a 20 minute drive to the airport and a 10 minute walk to a nice beach with amenities (restaurants, beach chairs, small grocery store) which was great for us. We picked our nephew/cousin up at the airport on Tuesday afternoon and spent the rest of the time hanging out at the beach.

Then on Wednesday we headed back to the airport (so grateful for our accommodation for the daily airport transfers!), this time to hop on a much smaller plane, heading to Skiathos island. We have been enjoying the benefits of our new American Express card by using the lounges where we get free food. But when we arrive, you can’t miss us with our big pile of luggage!
The flight was smooth and quick, and we were all so excited to see these views as we landed! And we loved our accommodation because it had the perfect pool! Though it was about a 20 minute walk to any food which was a bit long and very hot. We did enjoy the fact that you walk right under the flight path so get some crazy views of the planes coming in. The “town” was adorable and every restaurant was right on the water so we had some incredible views while dining.

Then it was back to the hotel for some pool time and bed.

The next day we woke up to a bit darker skies and a few raindrops but that didn’t keep the kids out of the pool. Then we walked into town for lunch before taking the bus to a beach. We have learned that every meal lasts at least 2+ hours here. There is no rushing! But everything has been delicious, and the kids have managed to find pizza or pasta at every restaurant. So they are happy. We didn’t love the beach we found but the kids still played and swam until the wind picked up and we headed back into town for dinner.

The next day it was time to move on to our next destination, Alonnisos, where we will stay for two weeks. While the last six days have consisted of 2 flights, 1 ferry and 3 different accommodations, there has also been plenty of time to rest, soak up the sun and salt air and enjoy some extended time together. We are all really enjoying Greece!
