We packed a lot of fun into our last weekend in Southern California–mini-golf, a beach day and (the highlight) a dolphin watching tour!
On Saturday, June 12th we met up again with my college friend and her kids at a fabulous beach in Mission Bay. It was the perfect place to spend hours swimming, digging in the sand and making memories. If you ever find yourself in the area, it’s a great place to spend the day!

Then on Sunday, June 13th we headed over to Dana Point for a whale and dolphin watching tour that we had set-up as a birthday present for Hannah since she had spent the whole year desperately hoping to see dolphins in the wild. And we saw dolphins!! But first, there was a terrible accident that happened on the way that delayed us over an hour. Luckily, the tour company was very accommodating so we just got on a later boat. It actually worked out nicely because we had a chance to eat lunch and walk around the pier a bit, spotting a sea lion enjoying the sunshine.

And then it was time to get on the boat! I snapped a few photos, but the video gives you the best idea. There are 3 dolphin pods that live in the area year round, so if you are in CA and looking for dolphins, Dana Point is a great place to go. The guide was fabulous and really took the time to explain things in a way the girls could understand. And of course the best part was that we saw hundreds of dolphins! It was majestic and thrilling and everything we had hoped it would be. Dreams do come true!
